Ishida’s work specializes in the traditional English slipware technique of using colored clay to create patterns, as well as his original method of using the centrifugal force of the potter's wheel and twisting it - something he termed the 'spiral technique'. Inspired by the beauty of natural phenomena such as conch shells, geological formations, glaciers, and stalactites, he combines the unique Bizen spirit of drawing out the qualities of the materials with the changes that occur in the wood-fired kiln and natural glazes to create his work.
